Welcome to the official website of The Metro League at Ascension Lutheran (formerly St John Lutheran).  This year, The Metro League will embark on its 42nd year of providing a quality basketball program at an affordable price for third thru sixth grade boy’s and girl’s teams in the Chicagoland area.

The purpose of The Metro League is to provide kids with a place to learn and play the game.  The league consists of basketball programs from area Catholic schools, park district teams, travel teams and neighborhood “buddy” teams.

The Metro League offers a player-friendly environment for participants in a clean and safe setting.  We want the kids to learn and develop as the season progresses - not only about the game of basketball, but about teamwork,  respect for their opponents, and good sportsmanship (not to mention, we want them to have fun along the way!).*The league has a zero tolerance policy towards unsportsmanlike behavior - by anyone. Teams may be removed or not allowed to participate in our playoffs due to noncompliance.

The Metro League offers two levels of play at each grade level - the NBA level is for the more advanced teams and the NCAA level is for those that are more concerned with developing their play.  There will be “crossover” games in the regular season if we do not have enough teams to fill a division.

The regular season consists of ten games, followed by a minimum two-game playoff.  Playoff awards are issued  to teams that finish 1st through 4th.

Each game will include two IHSA officials.

The league fee is very competitive compared to similar programs - $730 ($370 upon registration, plus $30/game for the IHSA officials, due at game time), regardless of a team’s roster size. Total fees for a team playing regular season and the minimum 2 playoff games would be $730.(minimum 12 game ref fee-$360, plus league fee- $370=$730)

See our League Info & Registration page for more details and feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
